Welcome to the Sharebill Privacy Policy. This policy explains how Leansmart ("we," "us," or "Sharebill") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the Sharebill application ("the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your data, especially the financial information you entrust to us.

Sharebill is designed to facilitate credit sharing and shared bill management among groups of friends. We understand the sensitive nature of financial data and take our responsibility to protect it seriously. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of your information, including the data you provide when using Google or Apple Authentication to create an account, and the financial transaction data you enter within your groups.

By using Sharebill, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the App.  

This policy is effective as of March 15^th, 2025. We may update this policy from time to time, and we will notify you of any material changes as required by applicable law.

2.       Information We Collect

We collect information to provide and improve the Sharebill app, and to ensure the security of your data. The types of information we collect include:

1.  Account Information:

When you create an account using Google or Apple Authentication, we collect your full name or display name, avatar, and email address. This information is necessary to create and manage your Sharebill account, and to authenticate your access to the App.

2.  Financial Data:

Sharebill is designed to facilitate credit sharing and shared bill management within groups. To provide these functionalities, we collect the following financial data:

• Transaction Records: Details of lending and borrowing transactions within your groups, including amounts, dates, and descriptions.
• Shared Bill Information: Amounts, participants, and descriptions of shared expenses within your groups.
• Group Credit Balances: The current credit balances of members within your groups.
• Credit Transfer Data: Information related to transfers of credits between members within a group.

It's important to note that we do not collect or store your bank account numbers, credit card details, or any other sensitive payment information. All financial data collected is related to the credit sharing and bill management features within the Sharebill app.

We collect information about how you use Sharebill, including:

• App Usage Patterns: Data about the features you use and how frequently you use them.

Sharebill is designed to facilitate credit sharing and shared bill management within closed groups of friends. Therefore, your Financial Data, including transaction records, shared bill information, and group credit balances, will be visible to other members within your groups. You understand and acknowledge that this sharing is essential for the App's functionality.

4.2 Sharing with Service Providers:

We may share your information with third-party service providers who assist us in operating Sharebill, such as hosting providers, data analytics providers, and customer support providers. These service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and are only authorized to use it for the purposes of providing services to us.  

4.3 Legal Requirements and Business Transfers:

We may disclose your information if required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or court order, or to protect our rights or the rights of others. In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity.

4.5 Third-Party Donation Platform:

If you choose to donate to the app creator through a third-party donation platform, we may share necessary information with that platform to facilitate the donation process. While Sharebill utilizes Google and Apple Authentication for account access, and therefore does not store passwords, you are still responsible for maintaining the security of your Google or Apple account credentials. Please do not share your Google or Apple account credentials with anyone. If you suspect any unauthorized access to your Google or Apple account, please notify the respective authentication provider immediately and take appropriate steps to secure your account.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

6.1 Account Information:

We retain your Account Information as long as your Sharebill account is active. If you delete your account, we may retain certain Account Information for a limited period for backup, archival, or legal purposes.

6.2 Financial Data:

We retain your Financial Data, including transaction records, shared bill information, and group credit balances, for as long as your account is active and for an extended period thereafter as required for:

• Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws and regulations, including financial reporting requirements.

• Auditing and Security: To detect and prevent fraud, and to ensure the security of our systems.

6.3 Usage Data:

We retain Usage Data for a limited period to analyze app usage patterns, troubleshoot technical issues, and improve the app's functionality.

You may request the deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal obligations and legitimate business interests. We will comply with your request within a reasonable timeframe, unless we are required to retain the information for legal or operational purposes.
